Red Book of Amphibians and Reptiles of Croatia

In European proportions Croatia is characterized by a rich fauna of amphibians and reptiles. The reptile fauna of Croatia islands that comprises subspecies that are exclusively Croatian endemics, such as the Dalmatian wall lizard, is particularly interesting.
The Red Book
contains systematically analysed data on amphibians and reptiles. Unfortunately, some of the species are data deficient and therefore this Red Book represents an impetus to further research.
The data collected in preparation of this Red Book indicate that a quarter (14) of a total of 58 amphibian and reptile species in Croatia is endangered and one fifth (11) is potentially endangered. It is even possible that one species is extinct.
