The Plan for Wolf Management in Croatia

The Plan for Wolf Management in Croatia is a document that provides guidelines for activities that need to be undertaken so as to ensure a long-term conservation of this species in a harmonious co-existence with humans. It is a result of years-long collection and consideration of all known scientific, ecological, social and economic factors affecting wolf conservation in Croatia . It should be emphasized that representatives of all interest groups participated in formulation of the Plan, using workshops to bring in line various views of specific key issues of wolf conservation. The Plan consists of two basic sections: Management Plan Preparation Background and the Operational Wolf Management Plan. The first section describes in detail the wolf population status in Croatia and all factors affecting this population. These data served as a basis for the Management Plan in which adequate activities are proposed, divided into 12 thematic units. The Plan was officially adopted by the Decision of the Minister of Culture dated 7 December 2004.
