Biodiversity of Croatia – Handbooks for Inventorying and Status Monitoring

The publication of handbooks for inventorying and monitoring the status of flora and habitats prepared with the support of the European Union under the CARDS programme "Capacity Building of the State Institute for Nature Protection" is a valuable step towards the establishment of a network of stakeholders actively involved in data collection and monitoring the state of nature. This is at the same time one of the first steps towards standardization of data collection.

The handbooks contain a description of the data collection methodology, sheets with the description of individual plant taxa and habitat types and field forms for recording the data. It should be noted that these handbooks are of a modular type and will be supplemented by the description of new species and habitat types.

 

Since these handbooks are primarily intended to those who are not professionally involved in nature protection, their publication was accompanied by corresponding educational workshops connected with practical field work.
