Categories of protected areas in Croatia
The Nature Protection Act lists nine categories of protected areas.
Internationally proclaimed protected areas
In addition to areas protected under the national legislation, there are many areas in Croatia protected pursuant to international agreements and conventions.
IUCN protected area categories
At the World Conservation Congress held in Barcelona in 2008, the IUCN Assembly accepted the new definitions of protected area categories.
