LIFE III

LIFE III – Development of an ecological network along the Sava River

This project began in 2007 with the financial assistance of the LIFE III fund of the European Commission and the Swiss Agency for Development and Co-operation. The project leader was the IUCN and its Office for Southeast Europe in Belgrade. Partner institutions included the Croatian State Institute for Nature Protection, Institute for Nature Conservation of Serbia, Centre for Ecology and Natural Resources (CEPRES), Faculty of Science of the University of Sarajevo and the Agricultural Institute of Republika Srpska. The objective of the project is to protect and manage key elements of biodiversity along the Sava River by offering support to the countries of the Sava River basin for development of an ecological network, i.e. identification of ecologically significant areas, corridors and transition areas.

LIFE CRO WOLF – Protection and management of wolf populations in Croatia

The CRO WOLF project is a three-year project comprised of various activities aimed at establishing a mechanism to ensure the long-term survival of wolves and their co-habitation with people. The basic activities include institutional strengthening, monitoring wolf populations and management activities, reducing damages, education and informing and strengthening the participation of interest groups in the decision-making process. The project is carried out with the financial support of the European Commission from the LIFE third country fund.
